AGEKADER
Aktif Gençlik Eğitim ve Kültür Araştırmaları Derneği
Active Youth Education and Cultural Research Association (AGEKADER) is a dynamic, multi-faceted non-profit and non-governmental organization headquartered in the transcontinental metropolis of Istanbul, Turkey. Although our roots date back to 2011 as a spirited youth initiative known as "Active Euro-Youth," we have since undergone a significant institutional transformation. We evolved into AGEKADER to better reflect our expanded vision, which now rigorously combines "Active Youth Education" with "Cultural Research." This strategic evolution allows us to not only implement youth mobility projects but also to conduct analytical research, manage data-driven social studies, and produce intellectual outputs that contribute to youth policy development at both local and European levels.
Our organization was born from the collective intellectual and physical efforts of university students and young professionals from diverse academic disciplines—ranging from sociology and psychology to computer engineering and arts. Today, AGEKADER boasts a robust community of over 240 active members and volunteers. Our primary mission is to act as a catalyst for the holistic development of young people, equipping them with the "21st-century skills" necessary to navigate an increasingly complex, digital, and multicultural world.
AGEKADER operates on the philosophy that "Active Participation" is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. Therefore, our activities are meticulously designed to foster engagement in all facets of public life. We specialize in non-formal education methodologies that bridge the gap between academic theory and practical life skills. Our operational focus spans five key pillars:
1. Digital Transformation & Media Literacy: Given the background of our management team, we place a heavy emphasis on coding, digital hygiene, and combating cyber-bullying.
2. Social Inclusion & Human Rights: We actively work to integrate marginalized groups, including refugees and individuals with disabilities, into the social fabric.
3. Cultural Heritage & Arts: We utilize theater, music, and traditional arts as tools for dialogue and conflict resolution.
4. Healthy Lifestyle & Sports: We promote physical and mental well-being to combat modern sedentary habits.
5. Research & Policy: We conduct field research to identify the changing needs of Gen-Z and Alpha generation.
Collaboration is the engine of our impact. AGEKADER is not an island; we function as a hub connecting local authorities, municipalities, universities, and high schools with the European youth ecosystem. We have established protocols with local district municipalities to reach disadvantaged youth in suburban Istanbul, providing them with mentorship, algorithm and coding courses, and language practice. Furthermore, our monthly digital and printed fanzine serves as a platform for young volunteer writers to express their views on democracy, technology, and health, fostering a culture of freedom of expression.
As an experienced actor in the Erasmus+ ecosystem, AGEKADER functions effectively as both a hosting and sending organization. We do not merely "send" participants; we prepare them as cultural ambassadors. Our pre-departure trainings and post-arrival evaluations are rigorous, ensuring that every mobility results in tangible personal growth. Whether hosting a project on rural development in Silivri or sending a team to a training course on entrepreneurship in Berlin, our quality standards remain strictly professional.
Our overarching vision is to cultivate a "Smart and Sensitive" youth community in Istanbul—individuals who are technologically adept yet socially conscious, ambitious yet empathetic. We aim to contribute to the European sphere by nurturing young leaders who can think critically, act democratically, and innovate fearlessly. AGEKADER is committed to providing transformative experiences where young people do not just "learn," but "evolve."

2. What are the activities and experience of the organisation in the areas relevant for this application?
Active Youth Education and Cultural Research Association (AGEKADER) stands as a seasoned stakeholder in the European youth field, with a portfolio that demonstrates resilience, innovation, and sustained impact. Despite the competitive nature of the Erasmus+ program, our organization has consistently proven its capacity to design, implement, and disseminate high-quality projects, particularly in the fields of Digital Well-being, Social Inclusion, and Mental Health.
Our experience is not limited to logistics; it encompasses the intellectual and pedagogical depth required to manage complex themes. As of 2026, we have successfully coordinated and partnered in numerous high-impact projects. Our relevance to this specific application (focusing on resilience and digital pressure) is highlighted by our unique blend of "Technological Expertise" and "Youth Work."
Key Flagship Projects and Experiences:
• Tell a Story, Make it History (2024-3-TR01-KA153-YOU-000269175 - July 2025): This was a landmark Training Course hosted by AGEKADER in Silivri, Istanbul. We hosted 34 youth workers from 8 different European countries. The project used theatre and storytelling to combat hate speech. However, a crucial module of this project was dedicated to "Digital Storytelling" and "Online Hate Speech," where we trained participants on how to be resilient against cyber-bullying. The project resulted in the creation of a sustainable network and the launch of the "TheARTer for Diversity" movement.
• Digital Youth Work Initiatives (Local & National): Distinct from many NGOs, our leadership includes senior software developers and IT experts. This allows us to run regular workshops on "Algorithm Logic," "Game Development with Unity," and "Safe Internet Use." We have direct experience in teaching young people how the backend of social media works, demystifying the "algorithms" that cause addiction, thus empowering them to take control of their digital lives.
• United Voices in Diversity (2019-1-TR01-KA105-070866): Focused on social inclusion through music. This project taught us how to manage group dynamics among diverse cultures, a skill essential for the emotional resilience of participants in any Youth Exchange.
• Make A Tale Real (2019-1-TR01-KA105-072892): This project specifically targeted the psychological well-being of minorities. We utilized drama therapy techniques to help participants express suppressed emotions, directly linking to the "internal resources and strengths" objective of your current proposal.
Operational Capacity: AGEKADER possesses a sophisticated project management infrastructure. We utilize agile management tools (inspired by the IT sector) to track project milestones, budget flows, and participant preparations.
• As a Coordinator: We handle the full lifecycle: Needs analysis, grant writing, logistical planning (travel, accommodation, visa support), pedagogical content creation, crisis management, and final reporting via the Mobility Tool/Beneficiary Module.
• As a Partner: We are known for our "reliability." We strictly adhere to deadlines for PIFs, mandates, and participant selection. We ensure our participants are not "tourists" but prepared contributors. We conduct preparatory meetings to brief them on the "Youthpass" process, the specific topic of the project (e.g., resilience), and intercultural rules.
Dissemination Power: Our dissemination strategy is multi-layered. Beyond standard social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X), we utilize our local connections with schools and municipalities to organize "Multiplier Events." For a project on "Digital Pressure," we have the capacity to organize workshops in local high schools immediately upon our return, ensuring the project's impact reaches beyond the 5 participants. We monitor and evaluate these activities using quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (interviews) methods to measure the increase in awareness regarding the project themes.
Erasmus+ experience
AGEKADER’s strength lies in its diverse and professional team, which represents a unique fusion of IT Professionals, Sociologists, and Experienced Youth Workers. This multidisciplinary structure allows us to approach youth projects from various angles—technical, social, and pedagogical.
Key Team Members:
1. Yusuf GÜNAY – President & Project Coordinator As the President of AGEKADER, [Adınız] brings a distinct set of skills that is rare in the youth work sector. He is a Senior Software Developer and IT Expert with nearly two decades of experience in the tech industry, specializing in C#, .NET Core, System Architecture, and Game Development (Unity).
• Relevance to this Project: His deep understanding of digital ecosystems, software algorithms, and gaming dynamics makes him an invaluable asset for a project focusing on "social media addiction, gaming, and digital pressures." He can explain the technical mechanisms designed to hook users, providing participants with a "behind-the-scenes" perspective on digital addiction.
• Youth Work Experience: Apart from his tech career, he has been a pillar of the organization since its inception. He is currently furthering his academic qualifications in Management Information Systems at Anadolu University, combining technical skill with management theory. He has coordinated over 15 international projects, managing budgets, legal representation, and crisis resolution. He is fluent in English and experienced in leading intercultural teams.
2. Mehmet Ali Karataş – Sociologist & Inclusion Officer Mehmet Ali serves as the pedagogical brain of the organization. He is a professional Sociologist currently working within the Şişli Municipality’s Social Affairs Department.
• Expertise: His daily professional life involves working with vulnerable communities, analyzing social trends, and implementing public engagement strategies. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree, bringing academic rigor to our non-formal activities.
• Role: For this project, Mehmet Ali will oversee the "Emotional Resilience" aspect. His background in sociology allows him to design activities that help young people understand the societal pressures they face and how to build mental fortitude. He ensures that our participant selection is inclusive and fair.
3. Gökhan Akyasan – Senior Youth Worker & Field Coordinator Gökhan is the dynamism behind our field operations. With years of hands-on experience in Erasmus+ projects, he specializes in Non-Formal Education (NFE) methodologies.
• Expertise: He is an expert in "Ice-breakers," "Team Building," and "Intercultural Learning." He knows how to turn a group of strangers into a cohesive team in a matter of hours.
• Role: He manages the practical preparation of participants. He conducts the pre-departure training, ensuring participants understand the "learning to learn" competence and are ready to step out of their comfort zones.
The Volunteer Core: Supporting this core leadership is a dedicated team of 20+ volunteers, many of whom are university students in fields like Psychology, New Media, and Teaching. This support team handles our social media visibility, graphic design for dissemination materials, and peer-to-peer mentoring for new participants. This collective expertise ensures that AGEKADER is not just a participant, but a "Knowledge Hub" ready to contribute significantly to the consortium's objectives.
